Friday Treat Day: The Hot Toddy

Hot Toddy

Sometimes you just need a cocktail that you can sip from a tea mug. Especially once the air has turned chilly and crisp, and the days turn to night so suddenly and so early. You need a hot toddy, and this recipe will bring you the perfect one…

The Hot Toddy

1 1/2 ounces bourbon or rye (or any dark spirt including aged rum or Cognac)
3/4 ounces honey or maple syrup
4-5 ounces hot water

Add spirit and honey or maple syrup to a mug or rocks glass. Top with hot water and stir gently to dissolve honey or maple syrup. Garnish with a lemon wheel and a cinnamon stick.

Not only will this cocktail delight your taste buds and warm you from the inside out, it will help those sore throats that seem to pay their unwelcome visits far too frequently this time of year.

Hope you all have a cozy fall weekend, sipping lots of these. Cheers. x

P.S. If you’re curious, like I would be, those pretty little mugs are made by Mazama Wares. I want it all.
