Spring Cocktails

In honor of Spring, long weeks, and warmer places where I know the sun must still exist I give you these two lovely cocktails…

The Lemon Drop

You will need:

  • 2 cups cold vodka (Don’t buy the cheap stuff. Seriously, there’s nothing worse than cheap vodka)
  • 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup superfine sugar
  • 1 lemon thinly sliced
  • Ice

How to:

Combine vodka, lemon juice, and sugar and pour into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well. Pour into martini glasses and garnish with lemon slices.

The Maple Sour

Ok, ok I know this one isn’t very “springy,” but it’s my very favorite, ever. It’s perfect for unwinding after a long day and involves all the best things in life: whiskey, maple syrup, and meyer lemon juice.

You will need:

  • 2 oz whiskey (I prefer Makers Mark, or Jack Daniels)
  • 1/2 oz meyer lemon (you may need to use a little more as it’s not as sour)
  • 1/2 oz maple syrup (if you are a whiskey newb or wuss, use a little more)

How to:

Pour over ice in a cocktail shaker. Shake well. Strain into a glass and garnish with a lemon peel. Be careful, they are dangerously good.

If you don’t drink and still need a little pick-me-up, watch this.

Could mankind ever create something more delicious than pure maple syrup? I wish I had a maple sour cocktail right now!

    Beautiful blog, Amber.

Definitely adding Maple Sour to our cocktail menu. Sounds dangerously good indeed….
